SMS Compliance & Opt-In Practices

Last Updated: July 8, 2026

About LOA Website Builder

LOA is a SaaS platform used by independent nail salons, beauty salons, and spa businesses across the United States. Individual salons use LOA to build customer-facing websites, manage bookings, and send SMS notifications to their existing customers.

Who Sends the Messages

Each salon business operates independently. LOA provides the software infrastructure; individual salons are the message senders of record. LOA processes and delivers SMS on behalf of registered salons under its A2P 10DLC campaign, and enforces platform-wide opt-out, consent, and content policies as described below.

How Customers Opt In

Customers provide explicit consent through one of three methods:

Method 1: Online Booking Form

When a customer books an appointment through a salon's LOA-hosted website (e.g., mombeautynail.loasalon.com), the booking form includes an SMS consent checkbox positioned below the phone number field.

  • Checkbox is unchecked by default.
  • Form submission is blocked until it's checked.
  • Consent text: “I agree to receive SMS messages from [Salon Name] about my appointment, including booking confirmations and reminders. Reply STOP to opt out at any time. Message and data rates may apply.”
  • Links to Privacy Policy and Terms are included next to the checkbox.
  • Consent is recorded with timestamp, source, and salon reference in our database.

Scroll to the phone number field to see the unchecked SMS consent checkbox and its accompanying disclosure text.

Method 2: In-Person Verbal Consent

Salon staff verbally ask customers if they want to receive SMS notifications about appointments and promotions. When the customer agrees, staff mark the consent in LOA's dashboard, which records a timestamp and identifies the source of consent as dashboard_manual.

Method 3: Written Intake Form

Some salons use printed intake forms with SMS opt-in checkboxes that customers physically sign during their first visit. Salon staff subsequently enter the customer into LOA's dashboard and mark the consent flag. Salons retain paper records of these signed intake forms.

Sample Messages Salons Send

The following are representative SMS templates that LOA-registered salons send to opted-in customers. Every message ends with an opt-out instruction.

Booking Confirmation

“Hi Sarah! Your Gel Manicure at MomBeautyNail on Tuesday at 3pm is confirmed. Reply STOP to opt out.”

Appointment Reminder

“Reminder: your appointment at [Salon Name] is tomorrow at 3pm. Reply STOP to opt out.”

Walk-in Wait Notification

“Welcome to [Salon Name]! Your chair will be ready in about 15 min. Reply STOP to opt out.”

Loyalty Reward

“Happy Birthday from [Salon Name]! Enjoy 20% off your next visit. Reply STOP to opt out.”

Opt-Out Mechanism

All SMS messages sent through LOA include “Reply STOP to opt out” instructions. LOA automatically processes the following opt-out keywords:

STOP · UNSUBSCRIBE · CANCEL · END · QUIT · OPTOUT · REVOKE · STOPALL

Once received, the phone number is added to LOA's permanent, platform-wide suppression list and no further SMS will be sent through the platform, regardless of which salon attempts to send. Opt-outs are honored across every salon that uses LOA.

Customers may also email support@loasalon.com to request manual removal from any salon's messaging list.

Message Frequency

Opted-in customers may receive:

  • Transactional messages: Sent when the customer takes a specific action (booking an appointment, checking in as a walk-in, receiving a manage/confirmation link).
  • Promotional messages: Up to 4 per month from any given salon (typical observed frequency; individual salons may send less).
  • Total frequency varies by customer activity and salon settings.

Standard message and data rates apply. Message frequency information is included in the disclosure text presented at consent time.

Prohibited Content

LOA prohibits and does not permit salons to send SMS content covered by the CTIA SHAFT categories (Sex, Hate, Alcohol, Firearms, Tobacco), illegal goods or services, deceptive content, or content otherwise violating Twilio's Acceptable Use Policy or the TCPA. Salons that attempt to send prohibited content have their SMS access suspended.
